MS Mentorship Forum – Medical Professionals In Training 2025

Emerging knowledge of the neuropathology of MS and advances in neuroimaging have expanded treatment horizons in multiple sclerosis. It is estimated that within the next decade, the demands of a growing patient population may outstrip the number of professionals dedicated to the treatment of this lifelong chronic disease.

Now in its tenth year the MS Mentorship Forum is a unique educational program designed for trainees who are interested in or have recently entered the field of MS practice. Participants will benefit from specialized training in MS from expert faculty members as well as discussions from peer mentors about networking and mentoring opportunities that will facilitate their successful advancement in their field of specialization. In addition to the Forum itself and throughout the Annual Meeting, more casual opportunities will be available to network with other attendees, faculty and guest speakers.

This Forum will be held in conjunction with the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) in Phoenix, AZ, May 28 to May 31, 2025.

Neuroimmunology and MS fellowship Programs Announcement

This is an agreement between neuroimmunology and MS fellowship directors and the group agreed that the MS-PiT website is a great place to post together with the directory. ACTRIMS will be sending to their group also. In order to give applicants the ability to make unpressured decision, we agreed on the following (this received a consensus from all program directors in the nation):

Neuroimmunology and MS fellowship Programs should not require a potential fellow to commit to their program before March 1 (of the PGY3 year, or ~15 months prior to start date).
Applications and interviews encouraged to occur accordingly – for most programs, that would mean most interviews would be in Jan/Feb. OK to interview earlier if felt more convenient.
Any trainees who wished to commit to a program earlier would have that discretion, but programs must not pressure them for an earlier decision.

Virtual MASTER MS 2020 (Mentoring Program)

Having had to cancel our live 2020 MASTER MS Mentoring program that was scheduled for the end of May, it is now our pleasure to announce the Virtual 14th Annual MASTER MS course, to be held June 27-28, 2020.

We accept applications from outstanding residents and fellows in neurology who are interested in a career researching or treating patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). This is a unique opportunity for qualified residents and fellows to interact with MS thought leaders from across the country during an intensive course focusing on contemporary topics in MS.

We would like to inform you that Biogen is continuing its deep commitment to support the education and development of Multiple Sclerosis specialists through our MS Clinical Fellowship Program. This year, Biogen will name the 2019-2020 MS Clinical Fellowship awards after the late Drs. Joseph Herbert, Lawrence Jacobs and Omar Khan. We hope that honoring these pioneers for their incredible work and collective impact will create opportunity for investment in the next generation of MS Clinicians.

Enhanced Fellowship Program Database

MS-PiT Fellowship Database is now searchable by location and name. We have also added an online submission form to make it easier for organizations to add and update their programs.

Program directors/administrators are encouraged to update information throughout the year.

Special Interest Group Announcement

On behalf of the Board of Governors of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) we are delighted to announce approval of a new Special Interest Group (SIG) to serve as both a network and communication resource for professionals-in-training with an interest in the care and research of multiple sclerosis.

This Special Interest Group has many potential benefits for individuals forging career paths in MS. Members of the SIG will provide input on the unique needs of professionals-in-training and have the opportunity to network with each other and potential colleagues and mentors across North America.

This group will be represented by a volunteer Chair with a non-voting seat on the CMSC Board of Governors, which meets twice yearly. A nomination process is now open to identify individuals with an interest in leadership of the SIG.

Please read the attached Terms of Reference carefully. We encourage you to actively participate in this unique opportunity.
